Why would I need a Trustee or Property Guardian?
In the event you have left any property to a minor child, it will be necessary that you select a Trustee or Property Guardian to manage the trust property on behalf of the child.
Trusts and BuildaWill
The BuildaWill Program provides you with the ability to create a trust that you can use to provide for the property management of the property which you wish to leave to your children. Alternatively, you may select not to establish a trust and allow your minor children to have their inheritance distributed to a custodianship account in accordance with the laws of your state or province.
What can the Trustee do?
The trust established under the Will is a recognized legal entity under which an adult individual is appointed as a Trustee and given the responsibility of managing the property of the trust on behalf of your child or children. The Trustee's powers are set out in the Will. The Trustee may normally use the trust assets for education, medical needs and expenses of a child or children.
